Barbara – Fall River, MA

July 2019

Barbara is a passionate and positive storyteller. She shared her inspiring story facing triple negative breast cancer with us earlier this year as one of our first story donor interviews by phone. Thanks Barbara!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that has nothing to do with cancer.

I love the beach, playing tennis, cooking, reading, my watercolor class and breakfast which is my favorite meal!

What brought you hope as you faced cancer?

Things my Mom always taught us: to be strong, positive, never give up hope and to be a fighter.

How do you live life over cancer?

By being extremely positive and giving back and paying it forward.

How did you become connected with Hope Scarves?

I saw an article in Cure magazine, contacted Hope Scarves and received a scarf. I love what you do and definitely want to donate my scarf and pay it forward.

What do you wish other people knew about Hope Scarves?

I wish more people knew about Hope Scarves and how you touch so many cancer patients and bring people together.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about sending a Hope Scarf to someone facing cancer?

Absolutely do it today!

What is one of your dreams or goals for the future?

To finish my book that I am writing about my story as my own caregiver. I just want to get it published and put in cancer hospitals all across the country. If it can help one person in each hospital, that would be great.

What is your favorite inspirational quote?

No act of Kindness

However Small

is Ever Wasted

If your friends or family describe you in a couple of words, what would they say?

Extremely strong and positive, kind, caring, passionate and stubborn!

Please share something you learned facing cancer.

I learned how strong I am and how positive and full of hope I really am.
